There are two designs of screw conveyors: tubular and trough. The screw's helix can be either full-bladed or shaftless. Screw conveyors are used both in heavy industry and in the fine chemicals industry. Screw conveyors basically consist of a trough or tube, the screw, which consists of a screw shaft with a helical blade, and a drive unit. Carbon or stainless steels as well as wear-resistant or heat-resistant materials are used for this purpose.
